A clincal review of non-traumatic bile peritonitis

Abstract
Author studied clinical observation and a review of bile peritonitis treated at Seoul Red Cross Hospital during the years Feb., 1969-Mar. 1974. Bile peritonitis is an uncommon acute abdomen, however, in spite of rarity, it revealed high mortality rate, various pathologic process and poorly understood its conditions. Bile peritonitis was 30 cases (16.6%) among 180 cases of the acute or chronic cholecystitis. .
1) The sex ratio was 44: 56, and female was predominant.
2) 26% attacked to third decades.
3) 5 ¢¥eases (16%) had a past history of the jaundice, and 3 cases (10%) had a chronic chblec-yetitis.
4) Preoperative diagnosis was corrected in 40% (12 cases) and duration of illness was less than 1 or 2 weeks.
5) Clinical symptoms of bile peritonitis are not different almost from other origins of acute peritonitis.
6) There was revealed mild leukocytosis and inverted A/G ratio in 6% and in 46% elevated total serum bilirubin.
